The CAN bus has been around for quite some time, and over the years has proved very useful in our projects requiring robust low data rate communications.

In the automotive domain Canterbury Consulting has worked closely with CAN to integrate new and innovative products into existing OEM Architectures.  This is essential, as the CAN bus and similar LIN bus are used extensively in this market. Although new higher speed MOST and IEEE1394 are becoming more common, the CAN bus remains the primary communication system integrating components from multiple suppliers into a single complex product.

In addition to working with CAN in it's home ground of automotive products, we have made use of this bus in our own system designs for marine engine control systems and consumer products.
